Gardner, Clive Michael In Edmonton, Alberta on August 2nd, 2015, Michael Gardner passed away suddenly at the age of 66 years. He is survived by his much loved and loving wife Madeleine Therese (Schiltz) Gardner; his brothers and sisters-in-law: Bernard (Denise), Louise (Andre), Raymond (Suzanne), Anne-Marie (Peter); nieces and nephews: Liza, Valerie (Pascal), Nathalie (Richard), Pierre-Paul, Michelle, Alison (Joey), Nicholas; grand-niece Mateya and nephew Antoine, and many cousins in the USA. He is predeceased by his parents Margaret Elizabeth Mitchell Gardner of High Point NC and Clive Ishmul Gardner of Georgia; adored mother and father-in-law Yvonne and Paul Schiltz of Pointe Claire, Quebec. Michael was born April 29, 1949 in Jacksonville, Florida, an only child. He graduated with an Associate in Arts Degree from the second graduating class of Florida Community College in Jacksonville in 1969 studying history and aviation along with other uninteresting but required subjects. He moved to Toronto, Ontario where he worked for the Metro Toronto Reference Library. He received a Queen’s Commission in the Canadian Armed Forces Reserve and was active for several years, including teaching Military Science for the Upper Canada College Rifles Cadet Corps. Michael was a member of the Queens Own Rifles of Canada Association and the Royal Canadian Military Institute. Moving to Calgary, Alberta in 1981, Michael met the love of his life and soul mate Madeleine (Mandy) and they were married in Waterton National Park on May 26, 1989, spending most of their married lives in Alberta. In 1998, Mandy and Michael moved to the Edmonton area where Mandy began a government career and Michael was employed by MacEwan University, earning the professional designation of Certified Information Access and Privacy Professional (CIAPP) in 2010. Celebration of Life Services will be held on Friday, August 14, 2015 at 2:00 pm at Serenity Funeral Service North Chapel, 10129 – Princess Elizabeth Avenue, Edmonton. Relatives and friends are invited to attend without further notice. In lieu of flowers, donations to Canadian Cancer Society, #200, 325 Manning Road NE, Calgary, AB T2E 2P5, would be appreciated.
