Jamelle Dee Stevens

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Jamelle Stevens of Beaumont, Alberta. Jamelle was born on August 18, 1971 in Calgary, Alberta. She moved to Red Deer with her family in 1979, where she lived through her high school years and completed a Secretarial Sciences diploma at Red Deer College. Shortly after the arrival of her wonderful son Keenan she moved to Calgary where she worked as a stenographer for the Government of Canada. From there she moved to Ponoka where she worked for first the RCMP and then the Pê Sâkâstêw Institution in Hobbema. While in Ponoka she was blessed with the birth of her sons Bryant and Colin. Jamelle then got a job for Environment Canada in Edmonton and moved her family to Beaumont. She realized quickly that Beaumont was the place where she belonged, and she developed a great love for this wonderful town. Jamelle returned to school and received her Bachelor of Arts degree, with a major in Native Studies, after which she began working for Human Resources with the Government of Canada. Jamelle is pre-deceased by her father Dale, and is survived by her three wonderful sons, Keenan, Bryant and Colin and mother, Sharon Stevens. She is also survived by her brothers Scott, and his girlfriend Shantelle Boatright, Dean, and his wife Nicole, and Carter Kokotylo, and her sister Amanda, as well as her nieces Taylor, Sara, and Sequoia, and her nephews Nick, Nathan, Eric and Dakota. Jamelle had a profound love of hockey, and worked tirelessly for the Beaumont Amateur Hockey Association as a volunteer for many years. Great appreciation and love goes to the entire community of Beaumont for everything they have done. Jamelle’s family would like to extend their deep gratitude to her very special circle of friends, who gave of themselves so much, and truly showed us all the meaning of devotion and love. A Viewing will be held from 7:00 pm-9:00 pm on Tuesday, April 22, 2014 at Serenity Funeral Service, 5311 – 91 Street, Edmonton. A Funeral Service will be held at 1:00 pm on Wednesday, April 23, 2014 with viewing one hour prior at Eaglemont Church, 5002 – 62 Street, Beaumont. Interment to follow in Clearwater Cemetery, Beaumont. Memorial donations may be made to the Cross Cancer Institute, Angels Anonymous or the Beaumont Amateur Hockey Association.
