Julia Una Amundson

Julia Una Vawter was born in Allen, Saskatchewan on November 15th 1920. In 1948 she married Reuben Amundson and moved to the Amundson farm north of Weldon. They relocated to Weldon in 2000 and to Edmonton in 2007 where they spent a very happy year at Canterbury Manor Senior Residence making many new friends and enjoying many outings. Mom suffered a heart attack and broken hip spending 9 months in the hospital in 2008. She was discharged to Southgate Care Home where she struggled with many difficult episodes of poor health and passed away on November 3rd, 2013 at the age of 92.Mom will be deeply missed by her husband, Reuben, five children, David(Cheryl)Amundson, Paul(Diane)Amundson, Dale(Janice)Amundson, Lois(Wayne)Peters, Norma(Darrell)Smith. Twenty grandchildren, Grant(Rebekah)Amundson, Peter Amundson, Julie Amundson, Carla(Colter)Carter, Sandra Amundson, Eric(Kristin)Amundson,Kurt Amundson,Kimberley(David)Hansen, Chantel Amundson, Jeffrey Amundson, Tonja Amundson, Max Amundson, Carl Amundson, Mark Peters, Christine Peters, Scott Peters, James Peters, Lindsay(Andy)Heath, Kelsey(Roland)James, Suzanne Smith. Seven great-grandchildren, Harrison, Erynn, Reuben, Maria, Clara, Paxton and Lincoln. Her sisters Dorothy(Art) Smith, Lillian(Henry) Genereux, Freda(Gerald) Crossman and brothers Grant(Diane) Vawter and LLoyd (Joan) Vawter. She was predeceased by her brothers Kelly(Eleanor)Vawter, Virgil(Esther)Vawter and Earl(Erna)Vawter and sisters Muriel(Bob) Stevenson and Ruth(Jerry) Piper. Yea though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death I will fear no evil; for though art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me Psalm 23:4 Julia was a woman of deep faith. She devoted her life to being a good wife and mother. Hospitality was a big priority with Julia and many have enjoyed her home cooked meals being truly welcomed to her home and table. She loved to get together with her brothers and sisters and revealed a great sense of humour when with her family. Her church family was very important to her and she was a loving caregiver to those she fellowshipped with. Julia loved her flower garden and loved to decorate her home with her cut flowers. Julia LOVED to shop and thoroughly enjoyed enlarging her wardrobe. Mothers teach us to love, to see beauty, to take ones place in the world………..and bloom there. A Celebration of Julia's Life will be held at 1:00 PM on Saturday, November16, 2013 at Edmonton Christian Assembly, 10950 - 135 Street, Edmonton, AB
